New president for the network of innovative universities

A new president for the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) has been elected. He wishes to strengthen cooperation and knowledge sharing between researchers from all member institutions. Aalborg University has been a member of ECIU since 1997.

Victor van der Chijs has been elected the new president of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU), which is a network of European universities working strategically to strengthen the international position of their researchers and students. Aalborg University is one of the 13 member institutions, and Rector Per Michael Johansen is a member of the Executive Board.

“Our common goal is to enhance knowledge sharing between scientists, and to make more research funding available by tapping into grant programmes in Europe and elsewhere,”  says the newly elected president of ECIU,  Victor van der Chijs.

AAU is the only Danish member university and has been a member of the network since it was founded in 1997. There are a number of advantages to being part of this international community. Increased student and staff mobility is one of ECIU’s main priorities. The Executive Board is constantly working to find new ways to support staff and students in going on stays at other member universities.

On ECIU’s website, you will find a list of relevant academic and social events at the other universities. This autumn, we advertised a workshop at Aalborg University where students and staff from member universities were offered a thorough introduction to our distinctive PBL model.
