Aalborg University (AAU) maintains its position as Europe's best and the world's fourth best engineering university on the list of Best Global Universities, just published by U.S. News & World Report. These impressive rankings testify to the university's highly skilled international research environments, strong partners and unique teaching model based on solving real problems.
Great potential going forward
Engineering is represented by three of the university's five faculties: the Faculty of Engineering and Science, the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, and the Faculty of Medicine.
Dean Mogens Rysholt Poulsen of the Faculty of Engineering and Science is delighted to see the university solidifying its position in the world's elite in engineering:
- We’re of course very proud of these rankings which are a great credit to our talented researchers and other staff members. I’m sure that with our position we can help to create visibility around Denmark as a strong nation in the field of engineering, and this will attract more international top researchers in the future, he says.
Henrik Pedersen, Dean of the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, also finds the university's continued top ranking greatly satisfying.
- The impressive rankings send a clear signal to the world that Aalborg is worth a look – both internationally and nationally. For example, when initiatives in research and innovation are put into practice, such as national test centres and pioneer centres. We have all the right conditions for delivering the goods, says Henrik Pedersen.
The Faculty of Medicine, where engineers are trained in health technology, is also enthusiastic:
- Engineers are increasingly needed in healthcare. For example, we have engineers developing robotic technologies for rehabilitation after operations or injuries, and we have researchers working with AI, which we will see being used in large parts of the healthcare system going forward, says Dean Lars Hvilsted Rasmussen.
No. 2 in the world in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
In addition to the distinguished placement in engineering, AAU also excels in a new category, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, where the university is in second place on the world stage.
